Calculate Coast Guard WHtR

Record height to the nearest 0.50 inch.

Round each waist measurement down to the nearest 0.50 inch. Measurements 2 and 3 are optional.

Coast Guard WHtR method

  1. Record height in inches.
  2. Measure the waist parallel to the floor at the midpoint between the last palpable rib and the top of the iliac crest.
  3. Round each provided waist measurement down to the nearest half inch.
  4. Divide the displayed waist measurement by height to calculate WHtR.

Public baseline used here for the Coast Guard: WHtR must be less than 0.55.
